Shark Tank Australia (2015)

Skye’s Shark Tank Adventure – A Bug-tastic Experience!

In 2015, Skye took a leap (or should we say, a hop?) onto the Shark Tank Australia stage, pitching the idea of insect-based foods to some of Australia’s top investors. It was an amazing experience, and the Sharks were buzzing with curiosity about the future of sustainable protein!

While we were thrilled to receive an offer, we ultimately decided to flutter in a different direction, choosing instead to grow Circle Harvest with the help of SproutX, the Seeds of Change MARS Foods Accelerator Program, and EnergyLab. These incredible programs have helped us scale our impact and continue educating people about sustainable foods.

That said, Shark Tank was still a fantastic experience! Janine was incredibly supportive, helping us refine our brand and spread the word about how insects can be a delicious, nutritious, and sustainable food source.

So, while we didn’t take a bite out of a Shark deal, we’ve been busy spreading our wings and helping the world see insects in a whole new light!

Future You  – Inspiring the Next Generation of Food Innovators!

Skye is proud to be a Pathfinder for Future You, an initiative designed to excite and inspire young minds about careers in science, engineering, maths, and the arts! Just like insects are small but mighty, these careers may not always be in the spotlight—but they have a huge impact on the future of our planet!

Through Future You, teachers and students can access free resources for primary aged students that explore innovative careers (like being a food scientist and entomologist!). These worksheets and activities show how science and creativity work together to solve real-world challenges—like feeding a growing population sustainably!

Skye’s journey proves that thinking outside the lunchbox (and sometimes inside a cricket farm!) can lead to an exciting and impactful career. So, if you’re curious about the future of food, sustainability, and how science can shape the world, check out Future You’s Pathfinder resources—because the future needs you!
